A unique aspect of our curriculum is the timetabled lesson for countryside education each week.  We aim to teach the children about the husbandry and agricultural practices which they see all around them.  The school has its own garden and as well as orchard growing vegetables, feeding the birds and monitoring the red squirrel population children also learn about woodland management, forestry, the principles of organic growing and play a part in the life of the farming community.  They decorate the church for harvest festival and Christmas, enter the local leek show and make the most of the woodland near the school building dens and camps and collecting brambles, leaves and conkers which are used in a variety of ways in the teaching activities.
