Science and IT

Science is taught throughout the school. It begins in the Early Years with the magic of discovery, becomes topical based in KS1, taught as a separate subject in KS2 and as the three sciences, physics, biology and chemistry in KS3. There is regular use of the excellent grounds for ecological work and much practical work both in and out of the well resourced science laboratory. The curriculum includes visits to the seashore, our local pond and the surrounding fields and woodlands as well as lectures at Centre for Life in Newcastle. It is not surprising that our science teaching produces excellent results and a number of our pupils have gone on to scientific careers.
ICT features across the curriculum. It goes beyond the computer into the local and wider environment. Projects involving geo trackers, stop animation, podcasts and programmable equipment ensure a diversity of technology which is in tune with modern day life.
